USANA Q1 Sales Up 6.2% To $255 Million

 
USANA Health Sciences, Inc. (NYSE: USNA) today announced financial results for its fiscal first quarter ended April 1, 2017.
Financial Performance
For the first quarter of 2017, net sales increased to $255.3 million, up 6.2%, compared with $240.4 million in the prior-year period.
A stronger U.S. dollar negatively affected net sales by $6.2 million for the quarter with $6.1 million of that change attributable to mainland China. On a constant currency basis, net sales increased by 8.8% for the first quarter of 2017. Net sales growth was driven primarily by an 8.1% increase in the number of active Customers.
Net earnings for the first quarter decreased by 4.2% to $21.4 million, compared with $22.3 million during the prior-year period. Higher operating expenses, primarily in SG&A expense, and a higher effective tax rate negatively impacted net earnings

USANA Opens $40 Million Manufacturing Site In China

 
USANA Health Sciences on Tuesday celebrated the grand opening of its 350,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Beijing.
The $40 million complex will produce nutrition supplements for Mainland China, one of the company’s top markets. Since 2014, when construction began at the site, USANA’s sales in Greater China have increased more than 40 percent.
“There were many back orders and we wanted to increase the supply to satisfy the demands in China,” Brent Neidig, USANA Vice President of China Strategic Development, said in a company announcement.
During the past two years, USANA has navigated China’s complex regulatory process to secure 12 separate building licenses. The plant initially came online last fall, operating at limited capacity. Now fully up and running, the Beijing site can produce 1.2 billion tablets each year, as much as USANA’s Home Office

USANA Health Sciences Q4 Sales Up 8.7% To $252 Million

 
USANA Health Sciences, Inc. (NYSE: USNA) today financial results for its fiscal fourth quarter and year ended December 31, 2016.
For the fourth quarter of 2016, net sales increased to $252.9 million, up 8.7%, compared with $232.6 million in the prior-year period. A stronger U.S. dollar negatively affected net sales by $9.2 million for the quarter.
Excluding the impact of currency, net sales would have increased by 12.7% for the fourth quarter of 2016. Net sales growth was driven by an 11.9% increase in the number of active Associates.
Net earnings for the fourth quarter decreased by 8.7% to $21.9 million, compared with $24.0 million during the prior-year period. Changes in currency negatively impacted net earnings by an estimated $2.4 million. Lower gross margins and higher Associate Incentives expenses also negatively impacted net earnings.

USANA announced the promotion of three executive directors to vice president of their respective areas.
Ashley Collins, former executive director of PR & social media, has been named vice president of marketing & PR; Amy Haran, former executive director of communications, has been named vice president of communications; and Howard Gurney, former executive director of quality systems and regulatory affairs, has been named vice president of product development process.

USANA Co-CEO Dave Wentz Steps Down – Kevin Guest Appointed As CEO

 
USANA Health Sciences, Inc. (NYSE: USNA) today announced a CEO transition plan. Dave Wentz has made the personal decision to step down as Co-CEO and a member of the Board of Directors of the Company.
The Board of Directors has appointed current Co-CEO, Kevin Guest, as CEO of the Company.
The Company will no longer utilize a Co-CEO management structure. The USANA Board of Directors now consists of six directors, four of whom are independent.

USANA Q3 Sales Up 9% To $254 Million

 
USANA Health Sciences, Inc. (NYSE: USNA) today announced financial results for its fiscal third quarter ended October 1, 2016.
Net sales for the third quarter of 2016 increased by 9.0% to $254.2 million, compared with $233.3 million in the prior-year period, but came in below the Company’s expectations due to softer-than-anticipated sales in the Greater China region.
The increase in net sales is attributed to a 12.6% increase in the number of active Associates and a 5.6% increase in the number of Preferred Customers. The continued strength of the U.S. dollar negatively impacted net sales during the quarter by $5.7 million.
