Ruby Ribbon Adds Veteran Joey Carter To Advisory Team

 
Longtime direct sales executive Joey Carter is joining Ruby Ribbon’s advisory team, after participating in the shapewear company’s recent Series C funding round.
Carter is General Partner at Direct Selling Capital, the Dallas-based firm that co-led Ruby Ribbon’s $7.5 million round alongside San Francisco’s DBL Partners. Silicon Valley venture firms Trinity and Mohr Davidow also participated in the round.
Before founding Direct Selling Capital, Carter was Chairman and CEO of Home Interiors & Gifts Inc., a direct selling company founded in 1957 by his grandmother, Mary Crowley. During his tenure the business reached annual sales in excess of $600 million.
Carter also has served as Chairman of the Direct Selling Association and held a seat on the Direct Selling Education Foundation’s board. He currently is an advisor and consultant to Ambit Energy LLP.

Herbalife Hires Tod Gimbel For APAC Public Affairs

 
Global nutrition company Herbalife has tapped Tod Gimbel to lead government affairs in Asia-Pacific.
Gimbel, who took on the position of VP of Asia-Pacific government affairs at the start of this month, joins Herbalife from public policy firm Landmark Asia, where he has been MD since 2013. 
Gimbel returns to the client side after previously holding senior Asia-Pacific corporate affairs roles at Citi, Levi Strauss and Kraft Foods. Before moving to Asia in 2006, Gimbel worked at Altria.
His arrival at Herbalife comes after the nutrition company expanded its global corporate affairs function earlier this year in Los Angeles. Ric Hobby relocated from Australia to become SVP global government relations; Megan Jordan was named SVP for global corporate communications, and Randall Popelka appointed VP of government and industry affairs..

David B. Holl Appointed Direct Selling Association Chairman

 
At its annual business meeting, Direct Selling Association today announced that David B. Holl, president and chief executive officer of Mary Kay Inc., has been named Chairman of the Board for 2015-2016. Holl succeeds M. Truman Hunt, president and chief executive officer of Nu Skin Enterprises.

“I’m pleased to accept this leadership role at a dynamic time for the American economy,” said Holl. “We have a tremendous opportunity to demonstrate the value of entrepreneurship and small business that our industry represents as part of a healthy marketplace.”
