Amway Invests $1.5 Million In Philippines

 

Michigan-based Amway, is strengthening its operations in the Philippines by investing an additional $1.5 million. The money will be used to upgrade facilities and infrastructure to support the market, which Amway believes has the potential for significant growth.
According to Amway Philippines Country Manager Elenita Olmedo, declining poverty incidence and rising incomes is making the Philippines an upper-middle income country, providing more opportunities for retailing, especially for consumer goods in the fast-growing categories of health and wellness, beauty and home care.
“The Philippines is in a unique position to provide a fertile testing ground for some new ideas for Amway,” said Amway Philippines Country Manager Elenita Olmedo. “Our economy is currently among the fastest growing in Southeast Asia and has been on this stable trend in recent years.”

Struggling In China, Amway Bets On Technology For Turnaround

 
According to an intreview with Reuters:
Amway is looking to rebuild its business in China with the help of improvements such as an online ordering platform for its agents and experience centers, as sales in the country have fallen over the past three years.
Two decades after entering China, the country remains the biggest global market for the Michigan-based firm, representing about 30 percent of its $8.8 billion in total sales last year.
But China revenue has contracted from nearly $4 billion in 2013, to reach 17.7 billion yuan ($2.57 billion) in 2016.
“We’re struggling a bit here now,” Doug DeVos, Amway’s president, told Reuters in an interview late Tuesday in Beijing.
DeVos said the China business was suffering from “a direct selling cycle” and faced growing competition, with more than 90 direct selling companies now

Amway Launches Multi-Lingual Online Business Learning Platform

 
Amway announced the launch of nearly 100 enhanced and free online training videos and resources designed to support current and aspiring business owners.
The program, entitled Amway Education, is an expansion of existing training resources and is available in five languages.

Amway 2016 Sales Down 7% To $8.8 Billion

 
Amway sales dropped more than 7 percent in 2016 to $8.8 billion, marking a third year of revenue decline. The direct seller increased sales in seven of its top 10 markets, but experienced softening market conditions in China. 
“Across the world, Amway did well in 2016,” said Amway Chairman Steve Van Andel.  “We experienced sales growth in several top markets, saw double-digit percentage growth in nine additional markets, and continued to evolve the business in China as we seek to take advantage of shifting market conditions and achieve the market’s long-term growth potential.

Amway 500,000 Distributors In India

 
According to an interview Amway President Dog deVos had with Economic Times, a magazine in India, Amway has half a million distributors in that country.
Amway, the world’s biggest direct seller, has bet big on India, having invested heavily in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and physical infrastructure. The Indian arm of the USbased company, Amway India, offers more than 130 products via the direct selling channel.
The company relies on a network of approximately 500,000 direct sellers to sell nutrition, beauty, personal care and home care products to consumers.
Products are manufactured in the company’s manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, India.

Amway Found Violating Multiple Regulations On MLM

 
According to the investigation results publicised by the Ministry of Industry and Trade dated January 12, 2017, Amway Vietnam is unable to show evidence that it had fulfilled its responsibility of informing some provincial Departments of Industry and Trade for the 3rd, 4th , 5th, 6th and 7th that it changed its certificate of registration of MLM activities.
Failure to inform the departments is a sign of violating Clause 17 of Decree 42/2014/ND-CP on state management of MLM. 
According to the clause, a MLM company can only carry out MLM activities in a locality after receiving confirmation from the local Department of Industry and Trade that it had been notified.
The company also trains its distributors online through the website www.welcome2amway.com  but does not have any concrete way to ensure that the distributors are aware

Amway Releases Global Entrepreneurship Report

 
Amway’s 2016 Global Entrepreneurship Report reveals that while interest and support for entrepreneurship is growing, gender and education gaps exist regarding who is most likely to take the leap to become a business owner.
This is the seventh-annual Global Entrepreneurship Report from Ada-based Amway, and it measures the “public pulse of self-employment around the world.”
This year’s report spans 45 countries, with in person and telephone interviews conducted with more than 50,000 men and women ages 14-99.
Amway said today the 2016 study found that 77 percent of respondents have a positive attitude toward entrepreneurship.
Amway said the results reflect a trend of individuals “seeking to work independently from an employer,” as a “desire for greater flexibility is on the rise.” It also said the interest in self-employment found in the study may explain the increasing importance

New Zealand To Host 10,000 Elite Amway Distributors

 
A New Zealand resort town is celebrating winning a bid to host a series of meetings for Michigan-based Amway Corp.’s China affiliate.
It’s considered a major tourism victory for the island country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean.
Queenstown will host 10,000 elite Amway China distributors for what is being described as a series of five-day incentive trips in the last half of 2018.
The tourism contract is such a big windfall that New Zealand Prime Minister John Key, who does double duty as Minister of Tourism, announced the contract last week during a visit to China.

“This is by far the biggest incentive business New Zealand has ever won, and it sends a strong message that New Zealand is a serious contender in the global incentive market,” he is quoted as saying in a statement
