RetailMeNot Uses Free Speech In Lawsuit With Mary Kay

 
Austin-based RetailMeNot Inc. is using a free speech defense in a lawsuit filed by cosmetics maker Mary Kay Inc.
The digital coupon site filed its response Thursday saying Mary Kay attacked its free speech and its right to the use of publicly available information on the Internet.
Addison-based Mary Kay filed a lawsuit in March asking the court to bar RetailMeNot from using the Mary Kay name.
Mary Kay claimed in U.S. District Court in Dallas that it does not provide digital deals, offers and coupons for publication on RetailMeNot and hasn’t authorized or permitted the site to list deals, sales or codes using its name or likeness.

RetailMeNot said in a statement that it “rejects Mary Kay’s attack on the rights of Americans using its websites to freely exchange publicly available information over the Internet.”

Mary Kay Makes Significant Impact On Environment, Celebrates Arbor Day

 
As the nation celebrates Arbor Day, Mary Kay Inc. is receiving the Promise to the Earth Award during the 2015 Arbor Day Awards.
The award recognizes the global cosmetic company’s commitment and contribution to tree planting, conservation and sustainability. The honor is being awarded to Mary Kay Inc. during the awards ceremony held April 24-26 at the Arbor Day Farm in Nebraska City, Neb.
As part of Mary Kay’s corporate sustainability program, the Pink Doing Green? initiative provided financial support for the planting of nearly one million trees across the nation including five national forests in Montana, Idaho, Michigan, Colorado and California.

Mary Kay Goes After Web Giant RetailMeNot

 
RetailMeNot has prepared a statement claiming it believes to be in compliance with the law, but that the company is prepared to fight back in the suit.

“RetailMeNot, Inc. takes concerns related to third party intellectual property very seriously,” the prepared statement said. “RetailMeNot, Inc. continues to believe that it operates in compliance with law and in the best interests of consumers and its retail partners by aggregating information to help shoppers save money using its websites and mobile apps. 

“RetailMeNot, Inc. believes the allegations in this lawsuit are without merit and intends to vigorously contest this matter.”

Mary Kay Named Official Beauty Sponsor For 2015 ‘ACM Awards’

 
The Academy of County Music (ACM) has announced its partnership with Mary Kay as the official beauty sponsor for the 2015 “ACM Awards.”
“We are excited to partner with a Dallas icon and legendary beauty brand, Mary Kay, as we prepare for the largest celebration in Country music history,” said ACM SVP/Brand Integration and Strategic Partnerships, Teresa George.

As the beauty company kicks off their annual U.S. Leadership Conference in Nashville this week, Mary Kay reports another year of double digit growth in global sales over a record-breaking year in 2013 when the company celebrated 50 years in business.

Mary Kay Engages Network Marketers With Finale Show

 
Beauty brand Mary Kay held its Dream Beautiful Finale fashion show last night, turning its search for a pair of brand ambassadors made up of a model and a beauty consultant into a week of celebrity-led master classes and a live finale show.
The brand sticks to its girl-next-door brand image by calling for applications from ordinary women who aspire to be make-up artists, in turn discovering and mentoring other women to model for them in the competition.
Mary Kay relies strictly on referrals and network marketing.  That’s why creating a competition involving beauty consultants – the very people who market Mary Kay and its products – could also be seen as a kind of staff engagement event.
Over 290,000 submissions were received across nine markets in Asia – China, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Korea, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand – from beauty consultant and model pairings.
