Indian Direct Selling Grew by 6.5% to $1.18 Billion In 2014-15

 
Indian Direct Selling Association (IDSA) in association with PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry released the Annual Survey Report 2014-15 on the Indian Direct Selling Industry.
The highlights of the report are:

Gross sales stand at INR 79,583 million ($1.18 billion) in 2014-15 as against INR 74,722 million (($1.11 billion) in 2013-14.
The Industry has registered a growth rate of about 6.5 per cent in 2014-15 as compared to 4.3 per cent in 2013-14
Wellness and healthcare products contributed the largest share at a total of 42 per cent of the sales revenue of direct selling, while the cosmetics and personal care products contributed 34 per cent, homecare products, 11 per cent and consumer and household durables seven per cent.

The Booming Business Of Direct Selling

 
It’s a more-than $32 billion industry with 17 million employees in the United States alone.
The business of direct selling is getting bigger by the day. Companies include Mary Kay Cosmetics, It Works!, Herbalife, Pampered Chef, Younique, Jamberry, Scentsy. You may have heard of at least one.
Part-time or full, this business is known to be flexible and has no limits.

China’s Direct Selling Market Grows

 
China has seen a growing number of direct selling companies in the past decade with their tax revenue hitting over 300 billion yuan ($4.7 billion), the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said on Wednesday. 
China now has 71 direct selling companies emplying over 2.8 million people with products ranging from cosmetics to health care equipment according to an MOC statement.
In 2014 alone these companies paid taxes of 5.7 billion yuan and their sales revenue reached 25.1 billion yuan.
The MOC said it will strengthen supervision to help consumption and increase employment.
China issued two regulations on direct selling in 2005 and announced amendments in March 2014 to step up supervision of the business.
