Register a .UK domain by 17 Jan and help Samaritans reach young people

Online business resource The UK Domain will donate £1 for every new .UK domain registered before 17 January 2020.
Each donation will support leading suicide support charity Samaritans in developing its vital online chat service from its pilot stage to launch.
Nominet, the parent company of The UK Domain, will donate £1 for each new domain registration ending in .co.uk, .uk, .org.uk, .me.uk, .ltd.uk, .plc.uk and .net.uk, between now and 17 January.
Chris Ashworth, head of head of public benefit Nominet, said: “This year we’re helping Samaritans build and launch their new online chat service. One of the key challenges Samaritans face is connecting with young people in emotional distress. The way people want to connect and reach out is changing and telephone doesn’t suit everybody any more. We’re helping Samaritans build new lines of communication.”

What is payroll giving?
Payroll giving is a scheme that enables your employees to give to any UK charity straight from their gross salary (before tax is deducted), and to receive immediate tax relief. Charities also don’t have to claim Gift Aid, so there’s less administration for them and they can plan and budget for the future based on the regular, reliable donations received through payroll giving.

Entrepreneurs have until this Friday, June 28 to sign-up for the £50 Challenge, a new charity drive to raise money for children’s hospice Noah’s Ark.
Start-ups, sole traders and SMEs will then have 12 weeks to show off their innovation and money-making acumen to raise as much money as possible for Noah’s Ark.
The business or team that raises the most will be awarded the Noah’s Ark £50 trophy, with other awards for the most creative and most sustainable ideas.
Each business that donates an initial £50 sign-up fee will qualify for discounted ad rates in North London newspaper Ham & High, the charity’s media partner.
Life-threatening conditions
Noah’s Ark provides support for babies, children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and their families in North and Central London and Hertsmere. The charity works with over 500 parents and carers, offering help to children, their siblings and parents — as well as supporting families after bereavement.
