Actress Actress Cobie Smulders Designs For Stella & Dot

 
Actress Cobie Smulders has teamed up with social selling company Stella & Dot to design a bracelet to raise funds for Cancer research.
The former How I Met Your Mother star is a cancer survivor, who had ovarian cancer at the age of 25. She has partnered with Stella & Dot  to design the Resilience Cuff, an artful rose gold and gray cuff bracelet in aid of Noreen Fraser Foundation, a non-profit organization that aims to raise funds for and awareness of women’s cancer. 

“I’m a survivor and I feel like we’re empowered by that. I feel like it’s something that made me a lot stronger and has, now that I’m out of it, really benefitted my life,” Smulders explains.

Net proceeds from each bracelet sold through the entire month of October will be directed towards the Noreen Fraser

Mary Kay Awards $1.2 Million In Grants

 
The Mary Kay Foundation has awarded a total of $1.2 million in grants to the 12 top institutions researching new treatments for cancer in the U.S.Major medical centers, which included Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, were awarded twelve grants of $100,000 each, after the research review committee reviewed more than 80 applications submitted to the Mary Kay Foundation.
Prominent medical scientists and doctors form the review committee, volunteering their time to help the Foundation choose the most promising research projects.
“With 3 million Mary Kay independent beauty consultants in more than 35 markets around the world, our mission is enriching women’s lives,” said Michael Lunceford, chairman of the board for The Mary Kay Foundation. “Through our independent sales force, we know too many heartbreaking stories of women battling cancer.
By supporting top medical scientists at some of the most-respected institutions in the country who are searching for cures, early detection screenings and innovative cancer treatments, we only hope that we begin to hear more stories of survival. To date, the Foundation has invested more than $20 million in the cause.”

Avon Raises $4 Million For Cancer Research

 
The 12th annual Avon Walk for Breast Cancer season continued in San Francisco this weekend, raising $4 million to accelerate breast cancer research;  improve access to screening, diagnosis and treatment; and educate people about breast cancer.
The Avon Walk San Francisco – the fifth of eight 2014 Avon Walks across the country – attracted 1,800 participants from 37 states, Washington, D.C. and France. In addition, 238 breast cancer survivors and 301 men joined together to raise lifesaving funds for breast cancer.  
During the Closing Ceremony at Fort Mason, Kristin Crosland, a breast cancer survivor and first time Avon Walker, shared her breast cancer journey with fellow walkers, volunteers, family and friends. “My 18-month breast cancer journey has had its Lifetime Television for Women melodrama moments.
I have late stage disease, I received a quick death sentence from my first doctor, battled a life threatening blood clot, and have endured the heartache of some pretty dicey CT scans,” Crosland shared. “But I have come to realize that despite all of this, I am one of the fortunate ones.  I have received first rate medical care.  I have the love and support of so many people from near and far.  And this weekend, I
