USANA Health Sciences Q4 Sales Up 8.7% To $252 Million

 
USANA Health Sciences, Inc. (NYSE: USNA) today financial results for its fiscal fourth quarter and year ended December 31, 2016.
For the fourth quarter of 2016, net sales increased to $252.9 million, up 8.7%, compared with $232.6 million in the prior-year period. A stronger U.S. dollar negatively affected net sales by $9.2 million for the quarter.
Excluding the impact of currency, net sales would have increased by 12.7% for the fourth quarter of 2016. Net sales growth was driven by an 11.9% increase in the number of active Associates.
Net earnings for the fourth quarter decreased by 8.7% to $21.9 million, compared with $24.0 million during the prior-year period. Changes in currency negatively impacted net earnings by an estimated $2.4 million. Lower gross margins and higher Associate Incentives expenses also negatively impacted net earnings.

USANA Selects Three New Vice Presidents

 
USANA announced the promotion of three executive directors to vice president of their respective areas.
Ashley Collins, former executive director of PR & social media, has been named vice president of marketing & PR; Amy Haran, former executive director of communications, has been named vice president of communications; and Howard Gurney, former executive director of quality systems and regulatory affairs, has been named vice president of product development process.

USANA Co-CEO Dave Wentz Steps Down – Kevin Guest Appointed As CEO

 
USANA Health Sciences, Inc. (NYSE: USNA) today announced a CEO transition plan. Dave Wentz has made the personal decision to step down as Co-CEO and a member of the Board of Directors of the Company.
The Board of Directors has appointed current Co-CEO, Kevin Guest, as CEO of the Company.
The Company will no longer utilize a Co-CEO management structure. The USANA Board of Directors now consists of six directors, four of whom are independent.

USANA Q3 Sales Up 9% To $254 Million

 
USANA Health Sciences, Inc. (NYSE: USNA) today announced financial results for its fiscal third quarter ended October 1, 2016.
Net sales for the third quarter of 2016 increased by 9.0% to $254.2 million, compared with $233.3 million in the prior-year period, but came in below the Company’s expectations due to softer-than-anticipated sales in the Greater China region.
The increase in net sales is attributed to a 12.6% increase in the number of active Associates and a 5.6% increase in the number of Preferred Customers. The continued strength of the U.S. dollar negatively impacted net sales during the quarter by $5.7 million.

USANA Receives Additional Third-Party Seal Of Approval

 

USANA Health Sciences recently announced that it has received another seal of approval from third-party tester ConsumerLab.com, this one for its Procosa cartilage and joint health supplement.
ConsumerLab.com performs independent assessments of health and nutrition products to provide quality ratings and comparisons.
To receive the organization’s seal of approval, products undergo a rigorous testing process. In the case of Procosa, the supplement had to contain 100 percent of the claimed amount of glucosamine, used to keep joints and cartilage healthy, and meet quality standards for lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury.

USANA Receives Approval for 8 Additional Licenses in China

 
USANA Health Sciences Inc. (NYSE: USNA), a global nutritional company, announced today that its China subsidiary, BabyCare Ltd., received approval from the Ministry of Commerce People’s Republic of China (MOFCOM) to expand direct selling activities in eight additional provinces/municipalities within China.
The provinces/municipalities are Liaoning Province, Shandong Province, Shanxi Province, Sichuan Province, Guangdong Province, Dalian City, Qingdao City, and Shenzhen City.
These additional licenses add to BabyCare’s existing direct selling licenses in the municipalities/provinces of Beijing, Jiangsu, Shanxi and Tianjin.
