Herbalife Contacted By Law Enforcement Agencies

 
Federal law enforcement agencies recently contacted several Herbalife members for information about their own business practices, CNBC has learned.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the inquiries came last week and focused on the activities of 10 or so mostly top Herbalife members.
It’s unclear exactly what law enforcement asked for, or the identities of the specific members in question.
Sources say the company has offered the members assistance in obtaining legal counsel though it’s unclear how many have sought representation.
Separately, Herbalife has also received inquiries recently about irregular trading in its stock as part of a broader investigation into possible market manipulation.
When asked for a comment on Sunday evening Herbalife spokesman Alan Hoffman provided CNBC the following statement:

Melaleuca CEO Wins Prestigious Award

 
Melaleuca CEO Frank L. Vandersloot, will receive the prestigious Horatio Alger award this weekend during a ceremony in the nation’s capitol.
The Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, is a nonprofit educational organization honoring the achievements of outstanding individuals. The group also encourages youth to pursue their dreams through higher education. VanderSloot joins eleven other accomplished business and civic leaders from across North America in receiving the award this year. 
Since its establishment in 1947, the Horatio Alger Award is annually bestowed upon renowned leaders who have succeeded despite facing adversity, and who are committed to philanthropy and higher education.
VanderSloot grew up on an 80-acre farm in northern Idaho. He took on a series of odd jobs as an adolescent, and saved his money to be able to pay his own way through college.

Nerium International revenues increase to $403m in 2014

Nerium International was recognized by Direct Selling News at No.40 as part of its “DSN Global 100 List” of top direct sales companies.
The news, which was announced at an awards ceremony in Dallas, revealed that the company earned the No. 40 spot on this year’s list, at $403 million in 2014 annual revenue. This ranking makes Nerium the youngest company ever to break into the Top 50 of the Global 100 list.

Origami Owl Expands To Canada

 
After only half a decade that’s shown massive growth, Chandler, Ariz. company Origami Owl will expand into Canada. 
The jewelry company was created by then 14-year-old Bella Weems, who designed and produced its first line, including the very popular “Living Lockets” colleciton. 
Now, Origami Owl has used its social selling marketing plan to commission 60,000 independent sales consultants, called “designers,” and will expand into its first stage of international growth. 
According to a release from the company, there are already 1,000 designers on board in Canada.

Herbalife Partners with Global Health Strategies Institute To Improve Children’s Nutrition In India

 
Herbalife (HLF), a global nutrition company, today announced a one-year partnership with Global Health Strategies Institute (GHSI), to help improve the nutrition of more than 10,000 children ages 5-12 in India, in line with the government’s Mid-Day Meal Scheme (MDM) and School Health Programs (SHP). 
As part of its corporate social responsibility efforts, Herbalife will work with GHSI and global vitamin supplier DSM, to help provide access to good nutrition to children in India, a country with a history of malnourished, underweight children. The government-run MDMS and SHP programs are designed to improve the nutritional needs of children by providing food supplemented with adequate quantities of iron, folic acid and vitamin A. However, more fortified foods with essential micronutrients are needed.

Blyth Reports Over $12Million In Loss In 4th Quarter

 
Blyth Inc. (BTH) on Monday reported a loss of $12.2 million in its fourth quarter.
On a per-share basis, the Greenwich, Connecticut-based company said it had a loss of 75 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and asset impairment costs, came to 88 cents per share.
The candle seller posted revenue of $176.8 million in the period.
For the year, the company reported net income of $86.8 million, or $5.37 per share, swinging to a profit in the period. Revenue was reported as $490 million.
Blyth shares have fallen 23 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $7.07, a decline of 22 percent in the last 12 months.
