USANA Year 2017 Sales Up 4% To $1.047 Billion

USANA Health Sciences, Inc. (NYSE: USNA) today announced financial results for its fiscal fourth quarter and full-year ended December 30, 2017.
Financial Performance
For the fourth quarter of 2017, net sales were $273.1 million compared with $252.9 million in the prior-year period, or an 8.0% increase year-over-year. The weakening of the U.S. dollar positively impacted net sales by $7.4 million for the quarter.
The Company’s total number of active Customers2 increased modestly year-over-year to 565,000.
The Company reported a net loss for the fourth quarter of $5.9 million, or $0.24 loss per share, compared with net earnings of $21.9 million, or $0.87 per diluted share during the prior-year period. The net loss is attributable to a one-time, non-cash charge of $30.1 million, or $1.24 per diluted share, related to the U.S. tax reform3 (the “Tax Reform”) enacted on December 22, 2017.
The charge is largely due to foreign tax credits and other deferred tax assets that the Company will not be able to realize under the new tax laws. Costs related to China and the Company’s internal investigation into its China operations, which was first disclosed in February 2017, negatively impacted fourth quarter net earnings by approximately $2.7 million after tax and earnings per diluted

Groupe Rocher Acquires Arbonne

Arbonne International LLC in Irvine, California (USA) and a sister company, Nature’s Gate, will be bought by Groupe Rocher on undisclosed terms.
Arbonne is a direct seller of beauty, skincare, and nutritional products while Nature’s Gate is a personal care brand sold in retail stores. The holding company is Natural Products Group; ownership includes private equity firm Eos Partners LP in New York.
The deal expands the Paris-based buyer’s direct-selling—doubling its direct-selling consultants to about 475,000, news reports said—and its reach in English-speaking markets.
A trade journal said 80% of Rocher’s $2.5 billion in annual sales come from France and Europe, about 15% from the Middle East, South America and Asia, and 5% from North America.
“This acquisition will be a real asset that will enable us to strengthen our positioning in the direct selling channel, which has seen an upturn over the past few years.
We also have a heritage of providing employment opportunities —dating back to my grandfather, our founder, Yves Rocher, who cared deeply about providing employment since he started his business.
This, combined with our direct selling know-how, should foster company growth and longevity,”
said Bris Rocher, CEO of Groupe Rocher.
Kay Zanotti, CEO of Arbonne, added,
“We share with Groupe Rocher

Tupperware Q4 Sales Down 2% To $588 Million

Rick Goings, Chairman and CEO, commented, “Our local currency sales came in 1-point under our October guidance range. Overall, our top-line did accelerate on a sequential basis after adjusting for calendar shifts, in connection with having an additional week in the fourth quarter of 2016, and the closure of Beauticontrol.
China’s significant growth trajectory continued, while Brazil and Tupperware Mexico grew nicely, demonstrating resilience in the face of tough externals coming out of the third quarter of 2017. Adjusted earnings per share was 6-cents above the high-end of our range in local currency after a 1-cent drag from foreign exchange rates versus October guidance.”
Goings continued, “Our re-engineering program to revitalize operations and improve the cost structure, primarily in Europe, continues to progress. Globally, we continue efforts to evolve our relationship-selling business model to include greater access to our powerful brands and innovative products through the use of digital tools, branded contact points and a relevant earning opportunity for our growing sales force of 3.2 million.”
Fourth Quarter Executive Summary – (Comparisons with Fourth Quarter 2016)

Net sales were $588.6 million, down 2% (4% local currency). On a Comparable Basis, adjusting for the impacts of the 53rd week in 2016 and the closure of Beauticontrol, local currency sales were estimated to be up

Interview With Luis Kasuga General Director Nikken Latin America

Nikken is a worldwide company offering revolutionary products that support a healthy home and lifestyle, through a combination of groundbreaking science and natural solutions. Nikken was founded in Japan in 1975 by Isamu Masuda.
In 2009, Nikken announced a new executive management team under Kurt Fulle. Late in 2014, his team began a makeover of the Nikken network marketing business model, which now put equal emphasis on sponsoring and retailing.
Luis, what can you tell us about Nikken?
“This year we will celebrate our 25th Anniversary in style; in fact, our celebration in style already began with a very successful 2017. Our growth in sales and sign-ups was 40% and 52%, respectively.
We have had a record-breaking year in moving-up-in-rank and in the number of high bonuses paid. In total, we closed 2017 with 90 new Platinum, 28 new Diamond and 14 new Royal Diamond consultants.
Our new compensation plan is much easier to explain, results are achieved much more quickly, it’s more dynamic and more fun, while at the same time we ensure the integrity and sustainability which have always been our trademark.
Something that is very important and gives us great peace of mind and confidence is the number of both male and female millennials

Top CEO Jeff Olson: Goal Setting Matters In Network Marketing!

Jeff Olson is the Founder and CEO of Nerium International, author of the bestselling book, The Slight Edge, and owner of Live Happy magazine.
This is what he had to say about goal setting:
“My advice for the new year is to set your goals — right off the bat”
Goals are the gateway to living your dreams. Why wait? These six principles are essential for successful goal setting:
Write It Down:
Whether your goal is to lose 25 pounds or make $100,000 a year — by writing down your goals you’re saying “no” to unnecessary distractions and “yes” to focusing on what matters most. Setting clear, measurable goals will help you see your way forward. Writing down your goals and posting them where you can see them every day becomes motivation for you to reach the end.
Be Specific:
Just writing down, “I want to lose weight,” is not specific enough — but committing to losing 10 pounds over 30 days gives you a clear and realistic objective to work toward. Clear objectives will also make it easier to see pitfalls in your plan and will help you recognize the right choices from the wrong ones. If my goal is to lose 25 pounds in three months, eating a donut a day may
