What All MLM’s Need To Take Away From The Vemma VS FTC Case

The results came in from Judge Tuchi regarding the Vemma hearing this week and it was met, not surprisingly, with an array of comments — mostly people misreading the information. While the ruling was far from victorious in this case, it can certainly be victorious for the network marketing industry if taken seriously. The largest component in MLM in the past has been the recruiting tactics involve in building a team, mostly met with animosity from the outside world. This was prevalent in the hearing on Tuesday when incentives, the 70/30 rule, autoship, and income claims were mentioned time and time again.
Will companies take this seriously and overhaul their approach? If so, who will be first? Some changes the FTC would most like to see, based on their testimony is the following;

Donald Trump Made Millions In Network Marketing

The Wall Street Journal wrote an article called Donald Trump made Millions in Network Marketing: Over the past decade, Donald Trump has earned millions of dollars for extolling ACN Inc., a multilevel marketing firm that has weathered regulatory investigations in three countries.
Mr. Trump not only endorsed ACN, he twice featured the company on his former reality TV show, “The Celebrity Apprentice.” Both episodes featured teams of entertainment figures competing to promote versions of a video phone sold by the North Carolina firm.

“I think the ACN video phone is amazing,” Mr. Trump said in an ACN news release just before a two-hour, prime time Sunday night Celebrity Apprentice episode on the product in 2011. “I simply can’t imagine anybody using this phone and not loving it.”

Even before the show aired, the ACN video phone was in

Adam Green And Derrick Winkel Hit $5 Million In Lifetime Earnings

The nearly decade long, steady-journey of two notable networkers demonstrates three things about the Direct Selling / MLM Industry: If you (1) Stay where you planted yourself (i.e. being committed to company, products and team),
(2) Be consistent with the little things and you (3) Work hard it will pay dividends.  The dynamic-duo of Derrick Winkel and Adam Paul Green (Winners Circle International) achieved three lofty goals in 2015:  Surpassing $100,000,000 in sales, pushing past the 125,000 team member point and hitting the notable $5,000,000 income mark.
About Derrick Winkel:
Some may find it hard to believe that Derrick Winkel’s successful career in Network Marking began as a bellman in a 5 star hotel in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah (1985).  As a bellman, he was able to meet many successful, international business people.

Forbes.com Inc., (www.forbes.com) a leading Internet media company, is among the most trusted resources for the world’s business and investment leaders
In an recent article with the heading: “Would You Join A Multi-Level Marketing Company For Retirement Income?” Forbes author Robert Laura is very positibe about the Network Marketing Industry:
Forbes:
At some point in your life you’ve been pitched a multi-level marketing (MLM), direct selling, or network marketing business opportunity.  While the pitch varies from company to company, it basically promises a chance to ditch your 9-5 work schedule, be your own boss, and make lots of money while making new friends in the process.
It all sounds good on paper, yet there is a seemingly endless debate over whether these companies and programs are legitimate business opportunities or not, so I dug in and

Network Marketing On The Rise In South Korea

The number of multi-level marketing (MLM) firms operating in South Korea rose in the second quarter, the antitrust watchdog said Friday, as the government moves to better regulate such operators to prevent consumer damage.
According to the Fair Trade Commission (FTC), there were 132 MLMs in the country as of June 30, up seven from three months earlier. It said 11 new firms opened for business while four closed.
MLMs refer to companies where the sales personnel are not only compensated for selling products and services, but for the sales generated by the salespeople they recruit. Some companies have been discovered to exploit members and are viewed as illegal pyramid schemes.
The FTC said all new businesses signed consumer damage compensation contracts with official direct-selling mutual aid cooperatives. The agreements bind MLMs to conform to

Where The FTC Went Right — And Where It Went Wrong

If Amway could make it out of the problems they had and come out the strongest network marketing company in the world, there’s a strong chance that Vemma can make it out of this as well — and probably better for it.
Whether you agree with the FTC or not about their reasons, it’s still an organization Americans need to understand and respect if they want to stay off the FTC radar.
The recent allegations against Vemma by the FTC are strong, to say the least. But what isn’t strong, is network marketing’s response to it. True to fashion, the response has been a retalliation against the allegations, disregarding the accusations. It is doubtful that most network marketers have read the details of the report.
In a nutshell, Vemma is in trouble because some time
