Direct Selling Statistics USA – Reps Increased To 16.8 Million

The Direct Selling Organization has published interesting statistics about the growth of the USA Direct Selling Sales Force.

The size of the direct selling sales force increased 5.7% to 16.8 million in 2013, a record high.

Due to normal attrition and the fact that some people join the industry for the short term, the slight reduction in force was expected in 2010 and 2011. The size of the industry’s sales force grew 1.9% in 2012 and is continuing to rise through 2013.

The Bill Ackman Contradiction

Over the last year I’ve been reporting on the battle between hedge-fund manager Bill Ackman and Herbalife. Bill Ackman has made very little, if any, progress in his attack. Each time he comes at Herbalife with something that looks potentially disastrous, Herbalife returns with further proof that Bill Ackman is wrong. This has no longer become a matter of whether Herbalife is selling good products (the question has never come up once, strangely) or whether they have a good pay plan, or even what their training programs are like.
The main issue, for Bill Ackman, has always been that Herbalife is a pyramid scheme, focusing on only recruiting individuals to make money. The hypocrisy seems to alude individuals paying attention to the ongoing and unforgiving battle. Bill Ackman’s only products offered by his own company is based on one sole result; money. His sole job is to take money and turn it into more money. He’s the CEO of Pershing Square Capital, a company that’s only product is money. Sure, he considers himself an ‘activist investor’ but that alone can seem like an oxymoron to many, especially those who could never afford the Harvard education he received and millions he himself invested to

Bill Ackman Now Attacking Top Network Marketer, Anthony Powell

The promotional attack machine used to bring Herbalife Ltd. (NYSE:HLF) to its knees is now targeting Anthony Powell, one of the nutritional supplement company’s top distributors.
The Pershing Square Capital operated website has, under the subsection “perpetrators,” a profile of Anthony Powell, an aggressive entrepreneur highly successful at closing deals to build an Herbalife distribution network of over 16,000 distributors under his domain. Powell used this aggressiveness to become one of Herbalife Ltd. (NYSE:HLF)’s top distributors, in some years earning nearly half a million per year.  The problem is, on Ackman’s Herbalife attack website Powell is accused of making get rich quick promises using a pyramid scheme to build his fortune.
In 2002, NWTW, Herbalife, Powell, and other senior Herbalife Ltd. (NYSE:HLF) distributors were sued in a class action in federal district court in Los Angeles. Plaintiff alleged that Herbalife and NWTW constituted a pyramid scheme and that the defendants were committing fraud and securities fraud by making deceptive earnings projections and omitting and misrepresenting the risks inherent in the business.
Plaintiff further alleged that “Powell, along with other of the defendants, conceived, authorized the use of and operated the Lead Generation System known as ‘The Newest Way to Wealth.’”I Herbalife settled the case for $6 million in 2004.

Willagirls, Network Marketing for Teens and Tweens

Known as “Willagirls,” the teens and tweens host Tupperware like get-togethers at home, school or just about anywhere eight- to 13-year-olds hang out. Invites typically are extended via text message, since “nobody uses email anymore,” Ms. Messner says. So far Willagirl, which doesn’t disclose annual sales, has recruited 42 sellers in New York, Miami, New Jersey, California, Colorado and Maryland, among other states.
For Willagirl’s young sales reps, the company offers 25% of total sales, for a potential monthly income of $320 to $3,500, according to a pamphlet sellers distribute at their parties. Party hosts also receive 15% of retail sales from the party in free products, plus one half-price item if party sales exceed $400.
“There are all these hidden costs that are tied to brick-and-mortar retailing,” says Willagirl founder and chief executive Christy Prunier, “and besides, tween girls aren’t going to malls anymore.” The company, based in Riverside, is currently building out software, which by September will allow the girls to host “virtual” parties online, she adds.
Willagirl is one of a handful of startups that in the past few years have turned to business models combining e-commerce and social media with the traditional direct-sales tactics pioneered by Tupperware, Mary Kay and

“Must be nice.”
“I want your lifestyle.”
“I’m so jealous.”
“You got in early.”
“You got so lucky.”

Flew 300,000+ miles in the last 12 months. Haven’t been in one city for more than a week in I can’t even remember. Had to send my mom flowers on her birthday, card to my dad on Father’s Day because I was doing meetings across the country.
I have sacrificed relationships, family time, physical, emotional, mental health for this business.
You know why?
Because every MOVEMENT needs LEADERS. Every WAR needs generals on the front lines showing the path to victory. Every REVOLUTION has to have that one nut case, obsessed, out of control, loud, aggressive individual leading the way to SUCCESS.
I’ve gone hard, I’m

Solavei Sales Numbers Revealed

Just a few weeks after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, Solavei CEO Ryan Wuerch said that the company is doing better than expected.
“We’re actually doing far better than we anticipated,” he told FierceWireless, estimating that only around 5 percent of the company’s customers know about its bankruptcy filing. “We’ve had very little attrition.”
T-Mobile US (NYSE:TMUS) MVNO Solavei filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection earlier this month, but said it will continue to operate normally while it restructures. The company launched service in the fall of 2012, and anticipates exiting bankruptcy later this year.
Solavei’s bankruptcy filing, obtained by FierceWireless, offers a surprisingly candid view into the MVNO’s business–which is rare, considering most U.S. MVNOs don’t offer much information on their customer numbers and revenues. According to Solavei’s bankruptcy filing, the company was founded in late 2011 around the concept of “social commerce.” Specifically, Solavei pays a $5 referral commission each month for every subscriber a customer personally refers to Solavei, and this monthly commission continues for as long as the referred subscriber remains a Solavei customer.
Under Wuerch’s direction, the company has grown to 51 full-time employees and an annual revenue rate of $65 million. The company has signed up a
