Amway Gives Stanford University $10 million For First Of Its Kind Study On Health

 
Stanford University will undertake a first-of-its kind study to track how everything from exercising to eating fresh produce can lengthen a human lifespan. Amway is picking up tab.
The direct sales giant is donating $10 million for the new Stanford project, WELL, short for Wellness Living Laboratory, which will launch next year.
The program will focus on wellness, rather than diseases, with the hypothesis that promoting wellness thwarts diseases, Dr. John Ioannidis, the head of the Stanford Prevention Research Center, told Scope, a Stanford Medical School publication.
He added that participants will track and report much of their information remotely and digitally. They also will have the opportunity to enroll in a variety of clinical trials to test various interventions, such as nutrition counseling or smoking cessation programs.
What is unusual about this study is that it is designed to monitor the health of people over a five year period, or longer.
“It really helps us understand how we characterize wellness,” said Audra Davies, vice president of nutrition product development and analytical sciences for Amway.

Top Actress Huma Qureshi To Endorse Oriflame India’s Colour Cosmetics

 
Actress Huma Qureshi has been signed as the ambassador of colour cosmetics section of direct selling brand Oriflame India.
The ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ star, dressed in a black gown with curled hair and red lips, sashayed down the ramp as she was announced as the face of the colour cosmetics section of the brand here Wednesday.
She also launched the brand’s new range called ‘The One’, which comprises Oriflame The One Everyday Beauty, Oriflame The One Long Wear and Oriflame The One High Impact.

WOR(l)D Global Network corporate social responsibility project World for People Foundation inaugurates the first WfP school in Zambia, first country selected for a WFP project. The school will eventually provide education for over a thousand children
WOR(l)D corporate social responsibility project World for People Foundation is creating socially innovative initiatives in Education worldwide. This  is one of the main objectives which will give life to the very first World for People Foundation school in Kamatipe, one of the poorest outskirts in Kitwe city, Zambia.
The World for People School  is the first project under the World for EDU initiative created in partnership between World for People, WORL(l)D and the local charity in Kamatipe which built the school with just over $500K in donations. The school is composed by 16 classrooms and currently attended by around 940 primary school pupils.
After a year long research trips on site, World for People has decided to take the lead of the school and it will contribute to the education of the pupils and eventually positively affecting the over 15,000 inhabitants of Kamatipe.

Class Action Complaint Against ACN And XOOM Energy

 
Oladipupo Adesina files this class action (Case 3:14-cv-00562-GCM) complaint in the USA – North Carolina on behalf of himself and all others similarly situated.
The class action alleges that ACN and XOOM used a fraudulent and deceptive bait-and-switch sales model to get customers to switch to the XOOM Energy Simpleflex flexible energy plan with a low promotional rate offer and energy savings, and then charging customers exorbitant, non-competitive rates after the promotional period.
It also alleges that ACN and XOOM concealed certain material information regarding the upward trend of the customers’ energy rates and that ACN IBO’s and that ACN’s and XOOM’s websites fraudulently state that consumer would save money on their energy bills and that the consumers’ rates were competitive.
It is further alleged that ACN and XOOM make the cancellation process lengthy and difficult, with cancellation taking up to two billing cycles.
The complaint cites numerous online customer complaints about the plan.
