Indian Direct Selling Grew by 6.5% to $1.18 Billion In 2014-15

 
Indian Direct Selling Association (IDSA) in association with PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry released the Annual Survey Report 2014-15 on the Indian Direct Selling Industry.
The highlights of the report are:

Gross sales stand at INR 79,583 million ($1.18 billion) in 2014-15 as against INR 74,722 million (($1.11 billion) in 2013-14.
The Industry has registered a growth rate of about 6.5 per cent in 2014-15 as compared to 4.3 per cent in 2013-14
Wellness and healthcare products contributed the largest share at a total of 42 per cent of the sales revenue of direct selling, while the cosmetics and personal care products contributed 34 per cent, homecare products, 11 per cent and consumer and household durables seven per cent.

Direct Selling Business Critical For India’s growth

 
The Indian direct selling industry has an advocate in the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) of the Ministry of Commerce. Speaking at an event about Direct Selling, Amitabh Kant, Secretary (DIPP) said that said that the Direct Selling industry is a critical part of India’s growth story as it contributes to employment, entrepreneurship, growth of MSMEs, and most importantly women empowerment, according to a press release by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT).
Speaking at an event about direct selling – the marketing and selling of products directly to consumers away from a fixed retail location, by industry body (Ficci), Kant said the industry had enormous growth potential.

Tupperware’s Winning Growth Strategy In Emerging Markets

 
Having Tupperware parties is apparently becoming cool once again. That is one of the key takeaways from the company’s third quarter report, which suggests more women around the globe are throwing parties to hawk the company’s latest kitchen gear. 
Tupperware’s local currency sales numbers, which strip out the impact of the strong U.S. dollar, rose 7% in the third quarter from the prior year. Reported sales, which do reflect the dollar’s strength against foreign currencies, fell 11% in the quarter. On a local currency basis, in emerging markets — from which Tupperware derives about 70% of its sales — sales rose 11% owing to growth in Brazil, China and Indonesia. In particular, sales in China and Indonesia rose 18% and 12%, respectively.
Sales in North America increased 14% as the company’s number of active sellers rose by 20%.

QNet Hosts Roundtable On Water Quality In Egypt
