Vemma Ruling In – Judge Makes Profound Decision

After the Vemma hearing that was held this Tuesday, the judge took his 3 days to make a decision. Essentially, the injunction was granted in part and denied in part.

Tom Alkazin argues that the FTC has not met its burden to show he is liable under the FTC Act for Vemma’s operation of a pyramid scheme, and the Court agrees. Accordingly, the Court denies the FTC’s request for a preliminary injunction against Mr. Alkazin with regard to the operation of an illegal pyramid scheme.
An asset freeze was not warranted by the court due to the fact that the FTC did not provide adequate documentation that Vemma would be deceptive and this would be required.

Infinitus Partners With Cambridge For International Research Centre

On 2 September, the Cambridge Infinitus Research Centre (CIRCE) was officially established by Chinese direct selling company Infinitus (China) Company Ltd, a member of LKK Health Products Group (LKKHPG), and the University of Cambridge. Just over a year ago, everyone was being inboxed or called about joining WakeUpNow. Then, suddenly, they fell off the face of the earth — or rather, they regrouped and renamed themselves to Disrupt. WakeUpNow launched in 2009 and over its six years of operation failed to generate a significant amount of retail sales. The officially collapsed earlier this year when they closed down their US facilities.
Not even three months has passed since WakeUpNow collapsed, with former President Jason Elrod now gearing up to launch “Disrupt”.
Aptly named considering how many lives WakeUpNow going under disrupted, the naming of Elrod’s new company is probably not going to be appreciated by ex-WakeUpNow affiliates.

Pampered Chef Begins Shutting Down Facilities – Closure Is Surprising To Affiliates

THE UK division of American “multi-purpose” kitchen tools company Pampered Chef is to close before Christmas, affecting 70 consultants in Northern Ireland.
The surprise news was announced on the company’s Facebook page last week, causing “shock and devastation” to workers and customers according to Portadown woman Karen McConnell, a senior director with the company.
The part-time teacher who has worked with the direct selling company for 12 years, said the news had come without warning and had left consultants in the north reeling.
“Pampered Chef has been in Northern Ireland for 16 years and there are currently 70 active Pampered Chef consultants in my team,” she said.

“The news has been devastating because as well as the chance to earn good money, the work was family-friendly and also very sociable.”

SEC To Investigate Avon

Three Years Of Investigations
Probes Reporter continued that it has been following both disclosed and undisclosed SEC investigations against Avon since October 2012. In letters dated December 17, 2014, and August 18, 2015, the SEC has “confirmed this company’s involvement in on-going enforcement proceedings.”
‘No New’ Activity
The report further noted that Avon “made no new disclosures of SEC investigative activity” since the conclusion of an investigation in December 2014. In addition, the investigation confirmed on August 18, 2015, “appears unrelated” to the previous disclosure.
$68 million was paid to settle the DOJ’s criminal investigation and $67 million settled the SEC’s civil investigation.
