QNET Hails Move To Amend Laws That Regulate Direct Selling

Welcoming the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s announcement about proposed amendment to the Prize Chits and Money Circulation Scheme (Banning) Act, 1978, direct selling company QNET lauded the forthcoming clarifications and called for setting up a regulator to monitor the business.
Jaitley said in his budget speech: “As part of the legislative initiatives under financial sector reforms, it is proposed to bridge the regulatory gap under the Prize Chits and Money Circulation Scheme (Banning) Act, 1978.”
“This step is expected to facilitate effective regulation of companies and entities which have duped a large number of poor and vulnerable people in this country,” Jaitey said.
Appreciating the initiative Zaheer Merchant of QNET’s Corporate Affairs, said that the direct selling business, unfortunately, was being clubbed under the Prize Chits Act due to certain misconceptions.
“The amended Act will hopefully take care of this, clarify the differences and encourage genuine direct selling as opposed to other forms of schemes,” Mr Merchant said.
Direct selling, he said, generates employment, encourages self employment, cuts down marketing and promotional expenses, apart from contributing to the exchequer. The need of the hour, therefore, is to formulate clear cut laws to govern the MLM and direct selling industry in India.
Merchant pointed out that other fast growing economies such as

Visalus’ Adam Franklin Shares His Inspiring Story

Living in Ona, West Virginia today, Adam Franklin has always been a determined person. At 33 and having sustained severe injuries overseas, he is now a retired veteran.
After serving two terms in Afghanistan and Iraq, and too many airborn jumps, Adam endured reconstructive shoulder surgery, major hip surgery, five ruptured discs in his back, ankle and knee injuries. By 2003, he was in full traction.
When the news came that he’d probably never walk again, Adam didn’t take it well.
“I was given a second chance to live my life to the fullest,” he says. “I had so many friends who weren’t given this chance and will never get to… It’d be doing them a disservice to just give up.”
So Adam pushed himself as hard as he could, day after day. In time, he graduated from wheel chair to a walker. Then from crutches to a cane. By 2006, he was walking again with nothing supporting him but his own two legs.
HE KEPT GOING
Now living a mobile life, Adam was determined to take off the weight he’d put on by being sedentary for so long.
He tried a popular weight-loss platform but found it lacked the supportive community he needed. When he was first introduced

Nu Skin Publishes Average USA Distributor Earnings

According to Nu Skin:
In 2013, the Company paid approximately $143,266,000 in commissions to Distributors residing in the United States.
There are two fundamental ways in which a Distributor can earn compensation:
Through retail markups on sales of products purchased at wholesale prices; and
Through commissions (sometimes called bonuses) paid on one’s product sales and the sales of other Distributors in one’s downline sales network. As with any other sales opportunity, the compensation earned by Distributors varies significantly and is based upon the time Distributors devote to the business, etc. The cost to become a Distributor is very low.
People become Distributors for various reasons. Many people become Distributors simply to enjoy the Company’s products at wholesale prices. Some join the business to improve their skills or to experience the management of their own business. Others become Distributors, but for various reasons, never purchase products from the Company.
Consequently, many Distributors never qualify to receive commissions. Generating meaningful compensation as a Distributor requires considerable time, effort, and commitment. This is not a get rich quick program. There are no guarantees of financial success.
The average commission paid to U.S. Active Distributors each month was $176.00, or $2,112.05 on an annualized basis. In 2013, the average monthly

Herbalife Calls Bill Ackman “The Worst Of Wall Street”

Herbalife’s digital media strategy fighting off Bill Ackman’s short campaign appears to include comparing the fund manager to Jordan Belfort-a convicted felon who ran a 90s-era boiler room, wrote a best-selling book and had a movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio made about him.
On July 17, verified Twitter account @HerbalifeTRUTH tweeted a superimposed an image of Ackman on a “Wolf of Wall Street” movie poster calling him the “Worst of Wall Street.”
The Twitter account linked to a press release slamming Pershing Square’s short bet against Herbalife.
“Ultimately, Pershing Square’s campaign is based on propaganda, and we look forward to demonstrating that its assumptions will crumble under serious and independent scrutiny.”
It’s unclear who exactly is behind the @HerbalifeTRUTH Twitter account. It links back to Iamherbalife.com. The two authors listed on the site areHerbalife and Andy Amsler, who works for digital media campaign company Podesta Group.
Ackman is loudly short Herbalife-a multi-level marketer that sells weight loss shakes and nutritional supplements. Ackman believes the company operates as a “pyramid scheme” that targets lower income individuals.
Herbalife has denied and continues to deny Ackman’s accusations.
On Tuesday, Ackman will be giving another one of his presentations on an investigation into how the company operates its nutrition clubs.
“An in-depth analysis and examination of these clubs-which Herbalife claims

TelexFree Hearing Next Week

A hearing will be held in Boston next Tuesday to determine whether an Ashland man accused of running an international pyramid scheme can access $4 million of his money to help fund his defense.
TelexFREE co-owner James Merrill initially asked the U.S. District Court two weeks ago to release the funds, which he said are necessary to cover the exorbitant cost of defending himself against a charge of conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
But government prosecutors have resisted, telling the court Merrill has not shown the money didn’t come from TelexFREE, which several state and federal agencies have charged with being a pyramid scheme.
The hearing will be held before Magistrate Judge David H. Hennessy at 9:30 a.m., according to court records.

TelexFREE was ordered to shut down last summer in Brazil, after a judge ruled it a “financial pyramid” scheme, according to news reports.
Galvin’s complaint says the company has raised over $1 billion worldwide, “often from honest earnings and savings accounts of Brazilian-Americans and other minorities.’’
The scheme works by constantly bringing in new money, the state alleged. For instance, participants are recruited to invest either $289 or $1,375, and receive a number of advertising kits in return. By posting ads on web sites

“The Help” director Tate Taylor is attached to helm the project about the rise and fall of Tupperware marketing exec Brownie Wise.
Sony has signed a deal to acquire an untitled project detailing the rise of a Tupperware exec that hasSandra Bullock attached to star and Tate Taylor set to direct.
David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman of Mandeville Films and Television, whose credits range from The Fighter to The Muppets, packaged the project and are producing along with Tom Shelly. Taylor will also produce via his Wyolah Films shingle.
The project was picked up in a competitive environment and several studios, including Warners and Paramount, were bidding, according to sources. The movie marks the first official role Bullock has taken on since her Oscar nomination this year for her performance in Gravity.
Taylor wrote the script for the project, which is based on Tupperware Unsealed, the nonfiction book written by Bob Kealing about Tupperware marketing guru Brownie Wise.
Tupperware was originally developed by Earl Silas Tupper but took off in the 1950s when sales exec Wise came up with the idea of having Tupperware parties. Soon those gatherings were sweeping the nation, and Wise became as popular as the product she was selling. In 1954, she became the first woman to appear on the cover of Businessweek.
Wise, unfortunately, began clashing with Tupper, who eventually
