4Life executives recently announced the advancement of three new distributors to the rank of Gold International Diamond, the company’s second highest rank. Distributor advancements include Agung Dwija Saputra from Indonesia, Mustafa Debu from Indonesia, and Kevin & Courtney Moore from Utah, USA.

Origami Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month With Bobbi Brown
by Tina Williams • • 0 Comments
Each year, Americans celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. The month-long event allows both Hispanics (and non-Hispanics) to focus on their history, culture and contribution as American citizens whether their ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central or South America.
America, the great melting pot, has a rich history of many cultures. While some groups may abandon Old World customs and traditions after several generations, Hispanic culture is still very vibrant and influential. In addition to remembering and honoring all the historical, political and cultural contributions made to the U.S., Hispanic Heritage Month is also about celebrating yourself and the beauty of Latina women in particular.
I had the honor of attending a master makeup class at the Bobbi Brown offices in New York, taught byCassandra Garcia, who serves as Bobbi Brown’s editorial makeup artist. Women of all backgrounds were taught Garcia’s simple 10-step application plan, which she clarified should only serve to enhance your natural beauty instead of putting on a different face. The class turned into a true learning experience for me when Garcia asked if I could be the model for the demonstration.
Lacking any actual skills in terms of makeup application, I jumped at the opportunity and

Home Party Companies With A Unique Twist
by Tina Williams • • 0 Comments
There seems to be a line drawn in the direct-selling industry between the two types of companies out there; those that focus on customers and products and those that focus on the distributors and their income.
With the recent pressure on the DSA to make serious progressive changes and the Ackman/Herbalife battle, it comes as no surprise that more and more Americans are looking at the home party company model — companies that have stood the test of time like; Avon, Mary Kay, Tupperware, and Pampered Chef.
But what is happening in the home party company that is relatively unknown to veterans of direct-selling industry is the unique twists these companies are taking to propel them forward into the future. Is it possible that these very companies that are flying under the noses of veterans will be the ones that are standing at the forefront in just a few short years? Only time will tell. One thing that can’t be argued; these home party companies aren’t dealing with the slue of issues many of the income focused companies are, mainly being the FTC’s pyramid scheme investigations.

Banners Broker’s Accounts Frozen
by Tina Williams • • 0 Comments
Police in Canada have claimed the masterminds of the Banners Broker advertising website, which netted 12,000 investors there, were operating a pyramid scheme which “evolved into a straight Ponzi scheme”.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police has also claimed that Christopher George Smith, Rajiv Dixit, and “others known or unknown” possessed and laundered the proceeds of crime.
The Mounties have succeeded in freezing a number of accounts in Canada containing hundreds of thousands of dollars and linked to the Banners Broker scheme.
The officer who has led the investigation, Constable Kate Judd, said in an affidavit seeking the freezing of the accounts that the “suspects will or could soon be charged with the following offences”:
-Running a pyramid scheme;
-Fraud over US$5,000;
-Possession of property obtained by crime;
-Laundering the proceeds of crime;
-Making false and misleading representations.
“It is the position of the police that the Banners Broker operation was dishonest and that said dishonesty misled many investors, causing them to part with funds that, had they known the truth about Banners Broker, they would not have parted with,” said Judd.
“It is the position of investigators that this business was a pyramid scheme that, over time, evolved into a straight Ponzi scheme in which new victims were recruited to

Herbalife Moves To Curb Rogue Sites
by Tina Williams • • 0 Comments
Herbalife, the diet shake seller being probed over pyramid scheme accusations, is making another move to keep regulators at bay.
The Los Angeles company is banning independent web sites run by US distributors and migrating their businesses to a corporate-controlled hub (goherbalife.com).
The change, which goes into effect Nov. 15, is an attempt to exert more control over Herbalife’s sales force and follows some instances in which distributors were accused of making false health claims about the company’s products.
“The web sites are designed to be in compliance with applicable requirements about product claims and they provide a consistent brand image for Herbalife products,” the company said in its advisory, adding the goal is to “promote a level playing field for all members.”
The Federal Trade Commission opened an investigation into Herbalife after hedge fund activist Bill Ackman lobbied hard for a probe and placed a $1 billion short bet on the company.
Ackman, whose big Herbalife short is now closer to $2 billion, claims the company is a pyramid scheme in which distributors earn more money from recruiting other distributors than by selling products to the end user.
While Herbalife denies the allegations, it has taken steps to address some potential trouble spots, including a
