THE UK division of American “multi-purpose” kitchen tools company Pampered Chef is to close before Christmas, affecting 70 consultants in Northern Ireland.
The surprise news was announced on the company’s Facebook page last week, causing “shock and devastation” to workers and customers according to Portadown woman Karen McConnell, a senior director with the company.
The part-time teacher who has worked with the direct selling company for 12 years, said the news had come without warning and had left consultants in the north reeling.
“Pampered Chef has been in Northern Ireland for 16 years and there are currently 70 active Pampered Chef consultants in my team,” she said.

“The news has been devastating because as well as the chance to earn good money, the work was family-friendly and also very sociable.”

Amway Continues To Make Changes In Their Indian Market

In May 2013, shock and a pall of gloom descended over the Indian operations of Amway, the direct selling firm whose portfolio includes shampoo and protein powder. Its expat managing director William Pinckney along with two other senior leaders were arrested and taken to jail on allegations of “cheating distributors and unethical circulation of money.”
This was followed by yet another round of arrests of Pinckney and a couple of others lasting over two weeks, the direct selling industry facing litigation, apprehensive employees and distributors looking for other employment options and the growth momentum winding down.
A few years later, a cricket match is on within the same office premises, with the man in the corner room, Anshu Budhraja, donning the wicketkeeper gloves and urging employees to give the tournament — Amway Premier League

Forbes Reports: Avon’s Resistance To Change Led To Its Downfall

Forbes reports: Change is the magic word that seems to decide success in most industries today, and the beauty industry is no exception. Avon Products seemed to have learned the lesson too late when only recently it had spoken about plans to expand its digital channel outside the U.S. and make its representatives sell through the social media. Too little, too late? Unfortunately, that’s what we think.
What Has Happened To Avon?
An over 70% persistent stock price decline over the last year indicates that Avon might be unable to recover from its weak state, after all. In the past, it was rumored that the company has been trying to sell off the whole or a part of its business. However, there didn’t seem to be many takers. Avon has been on a downhill journey since 2011 (its last profitable
