British employees give the most ridiculous excuses for calling in sick

UK bosses have revealed the most ludicrous reasons given by employees when calling in sick. The research, conducted by Powwownow, finds that one in five (21 per cent) employees in the UK are likely to give an outlandish reason for not coming in to work, compared with only 7 per cent of Dutch workers and 11 per cent

According to an article in Forbes, Herbalife Paid a $200 Million Fine and then the FTC screwed it up:
Three weeks ago, on Jan. 10, the Federal Trade Commission announced what sounded like great news for people who had lost money with Herbalife, the multi-level marketer of weight-loss shakes and nutritional supplements: Their checks were in the mail.
It was the final outcome in the FTC’s lengthy battle with Herbalife (hlf, +0.32%), which in July agreed to pay $200 million in a controversial settlement.
And it was supposed to be a great victory for the hedge fund manager Bill Ackman, who had poured $1 billion into a bet against Herbalife stock and long argued that Herbalife was scamming immigrants into loading up on weight-loss shakes they’d never be able to sell at a profit.

Tupperware Q4 Sales Up 1% To $600 Million

 
Tupperware Brands Corporation announced fourth quarter 2016 operating results.
Fourth quarter 2016 net sales were $600.9 million, up 1% in dollars and 3% in local currency, which included a 4-point benefit from a 14th week in 2016’s fiscal calendar. Emerging markets**, accounting for 65% of sales, were up 5% in dollars and 8% in local currency.
Rick Goings, Chairman and CEO, commented,
“We experienced a challenging fourth quarter to cap off an already tough 2016. Local currency sales grew 3% in the quarter, which was 1 point under the October guidance range.
Despite the impact of further economic and political instabilities, our businesses in emerging markets continued on a growth trajectory in the fourth quarter with outstanding results in Argentina, Brazil, China and Tupperware South Africa.”

According to an interview Amway President Dog deVos had with Economic Times, a magazine in India, Amway has half a million distributors in that country.
Amway, the world’s biggest direct seller, has bet big on India, having invested heavily in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and physical infrastructure. The Indian arm of the USbased company, Amway India, offers more than 130 products via the direct selling channel.
The company relies on a network of approximately 500,000 direct sellers to sell nutrition, beauty, personal care and home care products to consumers.
Products are manufactured in the company’s manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, India.

According to News.com.au an Australian based magazine, Thermomix a Vorwerk company is sued by a former distributor.

THE $2089 Thermomix calls itself “the most advanced appliance on the market” and has thousands of zealous fans, but the cult kitchen brand is at the centre of a bitter, emotional legal battle with a “traumatised” former contractor.
The high tech food processor is supposed to make life easier, yet in the past two years the company has been accused of causing third degree burns, encouraging a toxic bullying culture and failing to be honest with its customers.
