Amway Opens $13 Million Botanical Research Center In Wuxi, China

 
Amway announced the opening of its $13 million Amway Botanical Research Center (ABRC) in Wuxi, China today. The company will study plants associated with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at the site for potential future use in its health and beauty products.
Built on 34-hectares (84-acres) of farmland, the ABRC includes an advanced laboratory, large greenhouse and will be used for research on soil nutrients, plant physiology, extract quality standards and processes.

Tupperware’s India Business Declines 4% In Q3

 
Tupperware India said business declined 4% during the July-September quarter, partly due to a legal issue in the Punjab and Haryana high court. 
A month ago, a first information report (FIR) was registered against company officials for allegedly violating the Chits & Money Circulation Schemes Act. Tupperware India, has approached the Punjab and Haryana high court challenging the FIR by the Chandigarh Police. The FIR was registered against the company and its top management officials, including chief executive officer (CEO) Rick Goings, managing director, Tupperware India, Shilpa Ajwani among others.
The next hearing in the matter is on October 29, when the Chandigarh Police have to respond to the allegations of abuse of criminal process of law by its officials.

Usborne Books Wins UK Private Business Of the Year Award

 
Usborne Books has been given the Private Business of the Year award by the UK Private Business Awards. With more than 2,000 nominations, the UK Private Business Awards have continued to grow, attracting almost double the number of entries received in 2014.
Now five years old, the awards were set up at a time of economic uncertainty to recognise outstanding privately owned businesses in the UK. There are 10 different categories, allowing the judges to focus on enterprises of different sizes and approach.

“Private business is a major engine of the UK economy, driving growth, jobs and wealth creation. We need to celebrate this,” says Charlie Hoffman, managing director at HSBC Private Bank (UK), who led the judging panel.
